Inside the large cities
Montreal has an extensive metro and bus network. Quebec City relies mainly on buses and walking in the historic core. Plan accessible routes and late-evening service directly with the local operator.
Between cities
Rail and intercity bus can work between major centres. Frequency may be limited outside the main corridor, so build the itinerary around the actual timetable rather than assuming hourly departures.
Rural and park travel
A car gives the greatest flexibility for villages, parks and scenic routes. Some destinations also offer shuttles, local tours or seasonal transfers. Verify parking, road access and winter tire rules.
Ferries as transport
Ferries are part of several practical routes along the St. Lawrence and Saguenay. Some are short links; others require reservations or operate seasonally. Check the operator before committing to the route.
